EVGA releases Z370 BIOS files with Resizable BAR Support
EVGA has been adding Resizable BAR support to its latest motherboard models and has slowly added the feature to its older designs. Today, EVGA has released new BIOS updates for its Z370 motherboards to enable support for Resizable BAR, giving its 2017 motherboards and feature upgrade for 2021’s hardware. Most motherboard manufacturers haven’t enabled Resizable BAR on their Z370 motherboards.Â
The most famous utilisation of Resizable BAR comes in the form of AMD’s Smart Access Memory. Smart Access Memory allows CPUs to access a supported graphics card’s entire frame buffer, enabling increased performance in games where increased memory sharing would be beneficial. Our initial testing of the Resizable BAR/Smart Access Memory noted that 1st percentile framerates could increase by almost 30%.Â
EVGA’s support of Resizable BAR on its Z370 motherboards will come as great news for users of these older motherboard designs. Almost four years have passed since Z370’s release, and EVGA is still willing to support its users with new BIOS updates. Better still, these updates contain new, cutting-edge features.
EVGA users can download BIOS updates for their Z370 and newer motherboards here. Sadly, EVGA currently has no plans to update their Z270 motherboards to support Resizable BAR. Â
