Reports are coming in that existing AMD/AM2 compatible CPU coolers will work with AMD's AM4 socket and therefore with their future Zen based CPUs and Bristol Ridge based APUs.

This news comes from Thermalright, who have stated that AMD's AM4 socket will use the same mounting configuration as all other AMD motherboards since AM2, with the exception of AMD's ultra small AM1 socket.  Below is a quote from Thermalright, confirming that AMD's AM4 socket will use the same mounting holes as AMD's AM2 socket.

Using the same mounts as AM3+ makes a lot of sense for AMD, as it allows CPU coolers that are already on the market to be used on this new CPU socket without any modifications. This also means that AMS will not need to redesign their new Wraith CPU cooler before they can use it on their new CPU socket.

It is expected that AMD will launch their new AM4 socket at Computex next month, alongside their new Bristol Ridge APUs.
