Cheaper AM5 motherboards are here, and Gigabyte are ready to launch their first MITX A620 option

AMD’s AM5 CPU platform has become a lot more affordable in recent weeks thanks to the introduction of new A620 series motherboards, entry-level designs that lower the costs of building a baseline Ryzen 7000 based PC. Thanks to AMD’s A620 chipset, and lowering DDR5 memory prices, it is now cheaper than ever to build an AM5-based system, and Gigabyte’s now ready to bring AMD’s affordable A620 chipset to the world of Mini ITX with their A620I AX motherboard.

Unlike B650 and X670 series motherboards, A620 chipset AM5 motherboards lack support for CPU overclocking and do not offer users any form of PCIe 5.0 support. Some A620 motherboards may also lack support for high TDP processors, and all A620 motherboards will support memory overclocking.

Currently, it is unknown if Gigabyte’s A620I AX has any TDP limitations, but based on the image below we can see that the motherboard features two DDR5 memory slots, integrated WiFi, an Ethernet port, two SATA ports, and at least one M.2 slot.

With the introduction of A620 motherboards, it is now easier than ever yo build an AM5 based PC. This is great news for AMD, as this will allow AMD to better compete with Intel within the more budget-oriented segment of the DIY PC market, especially as DDR5 memory prices continue to decline.
