Intel Core i7-8086K processor listed at retailers – a 5GHz Intel processor?

Rumours of a new i7 8086K processor have been circulating for quite some time, a CPU which will offer purchasers higher clock speeds than their existing i7 8700K to deliver a boost clock speed of 5GHz.

Intel original 8086 CPU was released on June 8th, 1978, almost 40 years ago. This anniversary presents Intel with an ideal branding opportunity, as they can easily fit a new 8086 SKU into their existing 8th series of Coffee Lake processors.

Until now, the i7-8086K has only been listed on Chinese websites though so far these listing have been widely considered as fakes. Today, the same SKU has been listed on Canadia, Russian and Italian retailers by Videocardz, adding some extra validity to these rumours. As always, please don’t consider these listings as fact, as Intel has not made any official announcements regarding this CPU.

These listings point towards the i7-8086K having a 4GHz base clock speed and a 5GHz boost clock speed, an increase of 300Mhz across the board when compared to an i7 8700K, with all listings suggesting that the processor is a six-core Coffee Lake SKU. Pricing is also expected to be around €70 higher than a standard i7 8700K.

If these listings are valid, it seems likely that Intel will launch a new 8086 branded processor at Computex alongside their Z390 series of motherboards Intel’s Computex keynote will happen on June 5th.
