Intel pledges to release Core Ultra 200 Arrow Lake fix
Gaming fixes for Intel’s Core Ultra 200 series CPUs are coming – Intel blames optimization issues
Robert Hallock, Intel’s VP and GM of Client AI and Technical Marketing, has been interviewed by Hot Hardware to discuss the launch of the company’s Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” processors. During the interview, Hallock confirmed that a fix for the company’s Core Ultra 200 series CPUs is incoming and should arrive next month.
At launch, Intel’s Core Ultra 200 “Arrow Lake” CPUs performed poorly in many applications. Games were most harshly affected, leading to poor benchmark results for the company’s latest processors. Intel has uncovered a myriad of issues that have impacted the performance of their Arrow Lake CPUs, ranging from Windows OS issues to BIOS-level issues and other problems. These problems are optimisation issues, which will allow Intel to issue fixes for these problems.
With the release of these fixes, Intel’s CPU performance should be boosted in many applications, leading to the performance levels that Intel expected initially. Note that Intel achieved higher lab results than reviewers in their test rigs. However, it should be noted that reviewers didn’t test Intel’s CPUs incorrectly.
I think what people have been interested to hear is what happened. I can’t go into all the details yet, but we identified a series of multifactor issues at the OS level and at the BIOS level. I will say that the performance we saw in reviews is not what we expected; and not what we intended. The launch didn’t go as planned. That hs been a humbling lesson for all of us, inspiring a fairly large response internally to get to the bottom of what happened and to fix it.

Intel’s fix for their Core Ultra 200 series CPUs should arrive in late November or early December. Sadly, Hallock did not provide detailed information about the fix. Note that issues were found within Windows and within motherboard BIOS’. As such, we can expect to see Windows updates and new BIOS updates for Intel’s Core Ultra CPUs.
