Intel Broadwell-E Pricing and Specifications leak

The press slides for Intel's Broadwell-E CPUs has leaked, revealing the pricing and the specifications of the upcoming 14nm CPUs.

These CPUs will be the first Intel X99 CPUs to use their 14nm FinFET manufacturing process add their Broadwell CPU architecture, giving these CPUs enhanced power efficiency and has allowed Intel to increase their Core count from a maximum of 8 cores to a total of 10 cores. This means that Intel's new flagship CPU will have 10 cores and 20 threads, which guarantees at least a 25% performance boost in multi-threaded performance.

These new CPUs will be compatible with Intel's existing X99 platform, with current users only requiring a BIOS update to get started. This new CPU will feature and enhanced memory controller for compatibility with higher speed memory and have a higher IPC, giving this CPU higher per core performance than its Haswell-E equivalents.

On the overclocking side Intel is enabling per core CPU overclocking and greater control over certain aspects of the CPU, allowing overclockers to achieve ever higher overclocks on the X99 platform.

Below we can see the specifications of Intel's upcoming X99 Broadwell-E CPUs, with the 6-core i7 6800K at $434, the 6-core i7 6850 at $617, the 8-core i7 6900K at $1089, and the flagship 10-core i7 6950X coming in at an eye-watering $1723.

All the clock speeds of these CPUs are the same as what was previously leaked, with no CPU clocking at over 3.8GHz boost. The flagship 6950X clocks in at 3.0GHz base and 3.5GHz boost, but hopefully overclockers will at least be able to achieve 4.4GHz or above clocks like their Haswell-E counterparts.

All of these CPUs will come with TDPs of 140W, meaning that users will have to invest in some heavy duty cooling to keep these cool under load. Remember that Intel do not provide stock coolers with X99 CPUs.

fingers are crossed for the 6900. i hope it translates to about 700 quid and the black edition is about 450 and 64 gigs of ram is about the same. i think i could just about swing a 1500 upgrade in the next few weeks. depending on how the 6900 performs aswell if our leader deems it to be a piece of poop ill maybe jump on the 6850. time will tell.Quote

According to current exchange rate and VAT you're probably going to be looking at closer £931 for the 6900.Quote
