Intel's Skylake-X series CPUs are rumoured to release in Q3 2017

According to a report from DigiTimes, Intel's Skylake-X and Kaby Lake series CPUs are rumoured to release in Q3 2017 at Gamescom.

These now CPUs will come on Intel's new X299 series chipset, with Intel's new LGA 2066 socket with DDR4 memory. Right now Intel's desktop-grade Kaby Lake-S series of CPUs are expected to launch at CES 2017, which starts on January 4th.

Intel's Skylake-X series of CPUs are expected to have up to 10 CPU cores and 44 PCIe lanes, giving this CPU plenty of processing power and more PCIe lanes than its previous generation counterparts.

Intel's Skylake-X series CPUs are rumoured to release in Q3 2016

Right now Intel's Skylake-X series of CPUs is expected to cost between $450 and $1800, pricing these CPUs similarly to Intel's existing X99 Broadwell-E series CPUs.

At this time it is unknown what new features Intel's Skylake-X series CPUs will include, or what new features Intel's X299 motherboards will contain, though it will need to be a lot to justify an upgrade from Intel's existing X99 series CPUs and motherboards.

Hmm might be time to buy a back up X99 board before they are discontinued and cost about ten million pounds.Quote
