MSI enables support for up to 192GB of DDR5-6400 memory on AMD X870(E) motherboards
MSI delivers enhanced memory support with their newest 800-series AM5 motherboard updates
Thanks to a new wave of BIOS updates, MSI has delivered enhanced memory support for their new AM5 X870 and X870E motherboards. Now, these MSI X870 series motherboards can support DDR5-6400 speeds with up to 192GB (4x48GB) of memory.
MSI’s new update allows users of its motherboards to maximise memory performance and capacity. Users no longer need to choose between the two. DDR5-6400 speeds are the maximum speed that users can expect to support on AM5, at least with a 1:1 Infinity Fabric Clock to Memory Clock ratio.
Push your rig to the max with massive memory capacity and exceptional performance! The MSI AMD X870E and X870 motherboards now support a massive 192GB (4x48GB) DDR5 memory, running at lightning speeds of 6400MHz.

This enhanced memory support comes with new AMI BIOS updates from MSI. These updates promise “improved overclocking capability for high-density DDR5 memory modules” and come with AMD’s AGESA Pi-1.2.02b update. MSI has not specified if their motherboard’s improved overclocking capability comes from AMD’s new AGESA update or an MSI-specific firmware update.
(MSI MEG X870E GODLIKE motherboard BIOS Update)
Support for higher-speed DDR5 memory is a great thing for AMD users with MSI X870 series motherboards. MSI is allowing AM5 users to maximise their memory capacity while retaining high module speeds. 192GB of DDR5-6400 memory on an X870 motherboard is an insane configuration, but MSI has made it possible. That’s great news for workstation users and anyone else who can find a way to use this much DRAM.
