MSI is the first to release 0x12B Microcode updates for Intel 13/14th Gen CPUs

MSI boosts Raptor Lake CPU stability with new motherboard BIOS/Microcode updates

Intel has finally uncovered the “root cause” of Raptor Lake’s “Vmin Shift Instability” issue. Because of this, Intel has now released a new CPU microcode to mitigate the issue further. MSI has become the first motherboard manufacturer to release BIOS updates with Intel’s new 0x12B microcode. All users of Intel 13th/14th Generation Raptor Lake CPUs should update to this new microcode as soon as possible.

MSI has released its first batch of 0x12B BIOS updates. Below is a list of the motherboards that have been updated. MSI is currently releasing this update across its Intel 600 series and Intel 700 series motherboard lineups. If you motherboard isn’t listed below, then you should check you motherboard’s product page to see if an update is available.

Intel has released the 0x12B microcode for 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core desktop processors to improve system stability. In response, MSI has updated the BIOS for its Intel 700 and 600 series motherboards with this new microcode to address stability issues.

The first batch of updated BIOS versions is now available, with additional models to follow. Users are encouraged to check MSI’s official channels and product pages for the latest BIOS updates.

Intel has stated that its new 0x12B microcode will not reduce the performance of its Raptor Lake series CPUs. Intel’s testing confirms its performance impact is “within run-to-run variation.” This means that Intel users can update to this microcode without fear of performance degradation or other downsides.
