Next-gen AMD Ryzen “Olympic Ridge” Zen 6 desktop CPU core counts leak

AMD’s Zen 6 “Olympic Ridge” Zen 6 desktop CPUs will have between six and twenty-four CPU cores

Core counts for AMD’s next-generation Zen 6 “Olympic Ridge” CPU lineup have leaked, confirming significant increases in core counts for AMD’s next-generation Ryzen processors. HXL (via WCCFTECH) has unveiled seven CPU core configurations, with four using a single CPU core chiplet while the remaining three use two.

In total, AMD’s Zen 6 CPU core chiplets can feature up to twelve CPU cores. If we were to use Intel’s terminology, all of these cores would be P-cores. With two of these twelve-core chiplets, AMD’s Zen 6 Ryzen lineup will have models with up to 24 total cores.

For single-chiplet designs, AMD’s Zen 6 lineup will reportedly have 6-core, 8-core, 10-core, and 12-core models. For dual chiplet designs, there will be 16-core (8 + 8 core), 20-core (10 + 10 core), and 24-core (12 + 12 core) designs. The TDPs of these CPU models are unknown.

Compared with Zen 5, AMD’s Zen 6 CCDs will reportedly feature 50% more cores and 50% more L3 cache. This will give AMD’s Zen 6 CCDs 48MB of L3 cache without any additional 3D-stacked V-Cache. This gives each core on AMD’s Zen 6 CCDs access to a larger bank of L3 cache, which could greatly impact gaming workloads.

If this leak is true, AMD is adding new 10-core, 20-core, and 24-core CPU models with its Zen 6 CPU lineup. This should give AMD fans more Zen 6 upgrade options. It should also add new pricing tiers to AMD’s Zen 6 CPU lineup.

Currently, the pricing, clock speeds, and power draw of AMD’s new Zen 6 CPUs are unknown. These processors should support AMD’s AM5 socket motherboards, making it easy for Zen 4 and Zen 5 users to upgrade.
