Qualcomm unveils 24-core ARM Based server CPU

Qualcomm has unveiled their 24-core ARM Based server CPU, which is designed for hyper scale server solutions for companies like Google and Facebook.

This CPU will be a big part of Qualcomm’s plans on entering the server CPU market, being purpose built for server workloads and is very different from their current Snapdragon mobile SoCs.

This purpose built SoC is the first Pre-production sample from Qualcomm, but they have plans to produce chips in the future which features even higher core counts and CPU power.

Right now initial samples are being sent to big customers for testing purposes and Qualcomm promises to update the world on the progress of their new Server CPUs in 2016. Right now we do not know when these CPUs will be released or when we can see them operating in servers, but this is not doubt a very big leap for Qualcomm and for the ARM architecture in the server market.
