Super Micro C7Z170-OCE - A Green Z170 motherboard!

Supermicro has released a new Intel Skylake Z170 motherboard, a motherboard that is designed for overclocking and comes in a very unique shade of green, making this motherboard the envy of a lot of PC builders worldwide.

Supermicro hasn't been a part of the enthusiast market in a big way for a long time, but since Z87 they have been making some headway into the market, though very few motherboard have been seen here in the UK.

The Supermicro C7Z170-OCE looks like a pretty nice motherboard, offering 2x Intel Gigabit Ethernet ports, an M.2 slot, support for Crossfire and SLI and a lovely emerald green colour scheme. Below are pictures of the motherboard courtesy of ocaholic.

Right now this motherboard is only available in the US markets, but hopefully we will be seeing this motherboard worldwide very soon, as more competition and more varying motherboard designs is a great thing for us consumers.

Unfortunately their first effort into desktop motherboards was utter junk for overclocking.

I know there are other green boards but this gives me DFI flashbacks. Needs a touch of yellow Quote

I really really like the understated look of this board, its simplicity and lack of dragons, logos, racing stripes or carbon fiber details make it appealing to me also good to see green making a comeback *Cough GIGABYTE! wink wink nudge nudge Quote

Well the main point of this board is its 40 lanes using a PLX chip. Thats also were the price tag of 340€ come from.Quote

Even the one without the chip costs a lot of money. Super Micro stuff isn't cheap at any part of the market tbh.

It's well made, but I fear like many other manus who have tried to break out of the server market into the desktop market that it may not end well.

Tagan and so on failed to establish a place in the market and they had a tenth of the competition out there now.Quote
