$3,719 ASUS ROG Astral RTX 5090 LC sits on store shelves – Are buyers finally rejecting high prices?
Gamers appear to be rejecting the highest-cost Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards
Nvidia’s RTX 5090 graphics cards have been in high demand since launch. Nvidia didn’t produce enough of these GPUs to meet demand, and pricing for these GPUs has inflated to absurd levels. Now, we can see ASUS’ ROG Astral RTX 5090 LC at Microcenter for $3719. That’s 86% higher than Nvidia’s RTX 5090 MSRP. While we expect premium products to carry premium pricing, an 86% price increase is insane, even if it is the fastest RTX 5090 that we have tested.
Nvidia’s MSRP for its RTX 5090 GPU is $1,999 in the US, but the real-world pricing of these GPUs is much higher. MSRP GPUs disappear fast, leaving only premium models behind for all but the luckiest of gamers. Now, it looks like gamers are rejecting the high prices of premium RTX 5090 GPUs (as reported by Videocardz) as shelves of Nvidia’s RTX 5090 GPUs remain unsold.
At the same Microcenter, lower-cost RTX 5090 models all appear to be out of stock. Gamers have rejected only this specific model, likely due to its high pricing.

The good news is that RTX 5090 GPU pricing should normalise as more stock gets shipped to retailers. As more stock becomes available, more demand will be satisfied, and downward pressure will be placed on GPU pricing. This should see the average price of Nvidia’s RTX 5090 drop. That said, it may be a while before MSRP priced GPUs become commonly available.
