AMD counters RDNA 4 leaks – The Radeon RX 9070 XT has “better performance”

AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT will perform better than that leaks have implied, claims Frank Azor

In an interview with PC World, AMD’s Frank Azor, their Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions and Gaming Marketing, has countered recent RDNA 4 GPU leaks by saying that their RX 9070 XT will deliver better performance than current leaks suggest.

Azor has stated that pre-CES leaks have not been accurate and that their GPUs are delivering better performance than any of the leaks he has seen. AMD plans to officially showcase RDNA 4 soon, detailing all the changes they have made to their graphics architecture. Sadly, Azor will not discuss any specific performance information. However, he has recommitted to delivering great value for money with strong GPU pricing.

What I’ll tell you also is that any performance that you have seen prior to CES has not been accurate. So those rumoured performance leaks that are out there, that I’ve seen, those are not accurate.

You’re going to get better performance than most of the leaks that I have seen, if not all of the leaks that I’ve seen. You’ll get better performance out of the card. How much better, I’m not going to tell you.

AMD’s Frank Azor to PC World

Pre-CES leaks for AMD’s RDNA 4 flagship suggested that it would deliver levels of rasterisation/ray tracing performance that are similar to Nvidia’s RTX 4080. If AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT is able to surpass this level of performance, AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series may be an excellent architecture for gamers. If AMD prices this GPU well, AMD could gain a lot of market share this year.

You can join the discussion on AMD’s saying that RDNA 4 will have “better performance than most of the leaks – if not all of them” on the OC3D Forums.
