AMD RDNA 4 GPU pricing leaked – RX 9070 XT 16GB Incoming?

AMD’s RDNA 4 flagship could cost $649

According to the leaker “All The Watts,” AMD will be calling their RDNA 4 GPU flagship the Radeon RX 9070 XT, and it should feature 16GB of memory and a 256-bit memory bus. The leaker has also revealed pricing levels for RDNA 4, the next generation of AMD GPUs. Based on this information, AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT could cost as much as $649.

On the low end, AMD could be releasing Navi 44-based RDNA 4 GPUs with prices as low as $179. Note that this pricing will be for AMD’s lowest-end RDNA 4 SKU. Sadly, the specifications of this model remain unknown. Hopefully, this GPU will have more than 8GB of memory.

All the Watts has also claimed that AMD’s RX 9700 XT will be weaker than its RX 7900 XT and stronger than its RX 7900 GRE. This likely refers to the “raster” performance of AMD’s new GPU. Remember that we already know that AMD’s RDNA 4 architecture features greatly improved ray tracing performance. Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro contains the ray tracing elements of AMD’s RDNA 4 graphics architecture. This improvement is one of the “pillars” of PlayStation 5 Pro.

Is this leaked RDNA 4 Pricing aggressive enough for AMD to gain market share?

AMD has confirmed that their plans for RDNA 4 revolve around market share. AMD wants to gain GPU market share with RDNA 4 and use that market share to gain developer support. Nvidia’s dominance has led to a situation where PC games are optimised with Nvidia hardware in mind, and support for other GPU makers is an afterthought.

If AMD wants to gain market share, the pricing of their RDNA 4 GPUs needs to be aggressive. Currently, AMD’s RX 7900 XT costs $649 on Newegg, and AMD’s RX 9070 XT is reportedly lower than it in “raster” workloads. If true, AMD should consider lower pricing for their RDNA 4 flagship. RDNA 4’s pricing needs to be aggressive if AMD wants market share, and that means that they need to deliver good value compared to their existing product lines and Nvidia’s.
