AMD unveils its RX 9060 XT – it smashes Nvidia

AMD launches its Radeon RX 9060 XT with prices starting at $299

AMD has officially unveiled its Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex, promising gamers the best price/performance levels in the sub-$350 GPU market. With this launch, AMD plans to smash Nvidia’s RTX 5060 series, delivering stronger hardware at lower prices.

The Radeon RX 9060 XT will be available in two forms, a $349 16GB model and a $299 8GB model. This places AMD’s RX 9060 XT in direct competition with Nvidia’s 8GB RTX 5060 and 8GB RTX 5060 Ti.

Across 40 games, AMD has claimed a 15% price/performance lead over Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 8GB. Both GPUs have an MSRP of $349, giving AMD an advantage. AMD’s GPU has twice as much memory as its Nvidia counterpart, making it a better option when playing the newest PC games.

AMD’s RTX 5060 Ti 8GB killer

At 1440p, AMD claims a significant performance lead over Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti. This advantage could be due to the VRAM-limited nature of Nvidia’s RTX 5060 8GB. Sadly, AMD has released no comparisons with Nvidia’s more expensive RTX 5060 Ti 16GB.

AMD RX 9060 XT Specifications

AMD’s Radeon RX 9060 XT is basically an RDNA 4-based version of AMD’s Radeon RX 7600 XT. It features higher clock speeds and the enhanced per-CU performance of AMD’s RDNA 4 graphics architecture. Additionally, it features faster GDDR6 memory and a full 16x length PCIe 5.0 interface.

This 16x PCIe 5.0 interface could prove advantageous for AMD’s 8GB RX 9060 XT. This added PCIe bandwidth could prove vital if memory capacity becomes an issue. If that is the case, this places AMD’s RX 9060 XT 8GB in a strong position against Nvidia’s RTX 5060.
