AOC unveils the world’s first 5K G-Sync Pulsar monitor, the AGP327KG
Nvidia and AOC have taken G-Sync Pulsar to the next level with their 5K AGP327KG
AGON by AOC, alongside Nvidia, has unveiled its new AGP327KG, a 31.5-inch G-Sync Pulsar display that supports 5K resolutions at 144Hz. This makes it the first 5K monitor to support Nvidia’s G-Sync Pulsar, which boosts image clarity using cutting-edge backlight technology.
At 5120 x 2880 (4x 1440p), this screen delivers ultra-sharp detail. With G-Sync Pulsar, users can enjoy high motion clarity alongside this screen’s high resolution, giving this screen a huge boost in image quality over more commonly available 1440p and 4K LCD displays.
With its higher resolution and lower refresh rate than other G-Sync Pulsar displays, this new screen targets users who use their screens for gaming and productivity. 5K is a high resolution, and that gives users plenty of usable pixels for work and play.
What is G-Sync Pulsar?
With G-Sync Pulsar, compatible screens deliver higher levels of motion clarity. It does this by replacing static backlighting with a rolling, pulsing backlight that pulses with frame-perfect timing. This enables a 4x increase in effective motion clarity, making games appear sharper in motion. This reduces screen-related motion blur.
Put another way, G-Sync Pulsar delivers a level of motion clarity that would otherwise require a much higher screen refresh rate. At 144Hz, this is already a high-refresh-rate display. With G-Sync Pulsar, it delivers the motion clarity of a much faster monitor.
G-Sync Pulsar controls are coming to the Nvidia App
At Gamescom, Nvidia has also confirmed that G-Sync Pulsar controls will soon be available through the Nvidia App. This will let Pulsar users bypass their screen’s native controls and use their PCs to control their G-Sync settings. These new options will become available with a future Nvidia App update (which arrives in September).
Sadly, the price and release date of AOC’s AGP327KG are unknown. Regardless, it’s great that Nvidia’s G-Sync Pulsar tech is coming to a wider variety of screens.
