ASUS adds automatic shutdown support to Power Detector+ GPUs with GPU Tweak III

ASUS updates GPU Tweak III with new Power Detector+ safety features for supported 12V-2X6 GPUs

ASUS has implemented a new safety feature for its Power Detector+ graphics cards, adding support for a new automatic shutdown feature to supported 12V-2×6 powered graphics cards.

When it detects persistently high current, ASUS’ GPU Tweak III software can now automatically shut down PCs. Note that this only works on supported GPUs with Power Detector+. Not all of Nvidia’s 12V-2×6 GPUs are supported. Only premium ASUS GPU models like ASUS’ ROG Astral series are supported.

This new feature was added in GPU Tweak II version 2.1.8.0, released on August 17th.

Users of ASUS’ GPU Tweak III software can configure when automatic shutdown occurs. Note that these options have limits, as ASUS doesn’t want shutdowns delayed long enough to damage graphics cards. If this setting activates, users should check their GPU’s power connectors immediately and reseat them before turning their systems back on. If the issue persists, a new 12V-2×6 cable can deliver better results.
