ASUS pushes the limits of screen tech with its 610Hz ROG XG248Q5G-P gaming monitor

ASUS pushes refresh rates to extreme levels with their newest “Super TN” eSports monitor

ASUS has officially revealed its ROG XG248Q5G-P (via WCCFTECH), a new 24.1-inch gaming monitor with “Super TN” tech that pushes screen refresh rates to the next level. This screen boasts support for refresh rates of up to 610 Hz (in OC mode), making it the fastest eSports monitor on the market.

This new monitor supports resolutions of up to 1080p and sports both HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 inputs. The screen features “dual backlight” technology to reduce motion blur while boosting screen brightness. The screen is also G-Sync Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium certified. Furthermore, this screen features 90% DCI-P3 colour coverage.

With 0.1 ms response times, this screen is ideal for eSports gamers who require the lowest screen latencies. Note that ASUS plans to ship this monitor with a highly adjustable monitor arm instead os a traditional stand. This allows users to place this screen in an optimal location for long gaming sessions.

Note that this screen’s 610 Hz refresh rate is more than 10x higher than the 60 Hz refresh rate that most console games target in their “performance” modes. That’s how far ahead this screen is ahead of standard game refresh rates.

ASUS’ ROG XG248Q5G-P is expected to become available next month with an asking price of 7999 RMB or $1100 US.
