ASUS’ ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace dominates Esports at Computex

ASUS aims for ESports dominance with its first OLED ESports monitor

ASUS has officially unveiled its ROG Strix OLED XG259QWPG Ace, the world’s first OLED ESports monitor. This screen boasts lightning-fast 0.02ms response times, which are faster than those of a standard OLED, and a 540Hz refresh rate. These features make this monitor ideal for fast-paced gaming scenarios and competitive play.

This OLED ESports monitor uses a Tandem WOLED panel with a TrueBlack Glossy screen coating. Note that this coating helps to deliver clear text and sharp images. It also uses the popular 24.5-inch screen size, which is loved by competitive gamers because it minimises the need for head movement while gaming. This monitor is a full HD display, the most popular resolution among competitive gamers.

This screen uses a Tandem WOLED panel, which boasts up to 15% higher peak brightness, 25% larger colour volume, and 60% longer OLED lifespan versus previous-generation WOLED panels. This monitor has VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification, supports 99.5% DCI-P3 gamut, and delivers true 10-bit colour with Delta E<2 colour accuracy.

ASUS thinks Esports will transition from TN to OLED

ASUS sees this screen as a turning point for the Esports monitor market. For a long time, fast-TN panels have been the screen type of choice for competitive gamers. ASUS plans to change that with this 540Hz OLED screen. With its fast response times and excellent motion characteristics, this screen could mark the end of TN’s dominance in this space.

ASUS has partnered with BLAST and PGL to get feedback for this competitive OLED monitor. Features like precise measurement marking on the base help gamers adjust their setups for ideal competitive play. The screen’s OSD has also been fine-tuned to help gamers adjust their setup quickly. Additionally, the screen has three ESports colour modes for optimised gaming visuals. This will help gamers transition from TN to OLED.
