BenQ targets programmers with its 3:2 RD280UG coding monitor
Forget ultrawide, this tall 4K monitor is ideal for productivity
BenQ has officially launched its new RD280UG monitor. This new display targets coders and programmers with its 4K resolution and 3:2 aspect ratio, giving users an “ultra tall” 4K experience.
This 28.2-inch display supports a resolution of 3840×2560 and a 120Hz refresh rate. It features a “nano matte” display coating and is optimised to deliver a strong programming experience with high text clarity, low screen glare, and high contrast. With its 120Hz refresh rate, users also get fast scrolling and smoother visuals, making the screen feel snappier. The monitor also features a 90-degree rotating hinge, allowing the screen to be pivoted for 2:3 use.
With 90W USB-C/Thunderbolt power delivery, this screen is ideal for use with both laptops and desktop PCs. The screen also comes with BenQ’s Display Pilot 2 software, which is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux. This app has dedicated coding hotkeys to adjust coding modes, brightness levels, contrast, and eye care settings.
With an MSRP of $759.99, the RD280UG is an expensive display. That said, coders and programmers have been calling out for the return of taller displays. While Ultra-wide monitors are great for some applications, taller screens can display more lines of code. With its pivot function, this monitor can work as a 3:2 or a 2:3 display, allowing users to use this screen’s 4K+ resolution however they see fit.
