Custom RX Vega GPU designs have been reportedly delayed until mid-October
So far ASUS has been the only manufacturer to showcase a custom design for AMD’s RX Vega 64 GPU, originally stating that their aftermarket design would ship sometime in September.Â
It is now mid-September, with October quickly approaching, leaving us to wonder where are AMD’s custom Vega GPUs? Even ASUS has been quiet on this issue, leaving us with little hope that their RX Vega Strix will release within their original “September” timeframe.Â
Hardware.FR has been in contact with several AIBs in an attempt to get to the bottom of this issue, with an unnamed AIB partner stating that AMD has not even told them the delivery dates for their RX Vega chips, which means that aftermarket Vega GPU designs should not be expected before mid-October. Assuming that this is an optimistic estimate this means that custom Vega could be delayed as far back as November. Â
Â
At this time it is unknown why AMD has not delivered their AIB partners production ready quantities of the RX Vega series silicon, though it is likely that the company is having trouble keeping up with demand for their product, making it difficult for AMD to supply all of their AIB partners at this time.
