HYTE confirms its PCIe risers are “fully compatible” with RTX 50 series GPUs at PCIe 5 speeds
HYTE confirms PCIe 5.0 X16 support for existing PC cases and riser cables with RTX 50 series GPUs
Nvidia’s RTX 50 series of GPUs are the first to support PCIe 5.0 connectivity. For PC builders, this may cause mayhem for users of vertically mounted graphics cards, as their existing riser cables may not support PCIe 5.0 speeds. Thanks to some “overengineering”, HYTE has confirmed that their existing “Luxury Riser” supports full PCIe 5.0 X16 speeds with Nvidia’s RTX 50 series GPUs.
This means that HYTE Y70, Y60, and Y40 users can use RTX 50-series GPUs with their case’s stock PCIe riser. Note that this compatibility is only possible because HYTE has overbuilt their PCIe riser cards, and Nvidia’s RTX 5090 GPU does not use the full bandwidth of the PCIe 5.0 interface. As such, future PCIe 5.0 GPUs may not function optimally using HYTE’s existing riser cables.
We are happy to announce that the existing risers in the Y70, Y60, and Y40 are fully compatible with the RTX 50-Series GPUs running at full PCIE 5.0 x 16 Gen 5 speeds. This is due in part to us overengineering our Luxury Riser, and the RTX 50-Series GPUs not requiring the full capabilities of PCIE 5.0 to deliver maximum performance.
Our lab is currently hard at work testing these cards with the Luxury Riser across both AMD X870, X670, X570 and Intel Z890, Z790, Z690 platforms. For each generation, we are also making sure to test on an enthusiast and budget motherboard from each major vendor. This post will be continually updated as we finish testing with a detailed table listing all the platform, motherboard, and GPU combinations that were tested along with their PCIE link speed and 3DMark scores. For anyone who may be experiencing issues right now, we recommend updating your BIOS and manually setting your motherboard to PCIE 4.0 x 16.

Note that HYTE still has a next-generation PCIe riser card in development. This riser will fully support PCIe 5.0, allowing it to support future GPU generations without issues. While their existing risers support Nvidia’s RTX 50 series with PCIe 5.0 speeds, future GPUs will undoubtedly saturate more PCIe bandwidth. This may cause compatibility issues. For this reason, HYTE will release “Deluxe risers” in the future.
HYTE’s “Deluxe Risers” deliver improved signal integrity and performance. Currently, this difference is only visible during lab testing. However, this will become important as more powerful PCIe 5.0 GPUs are released.
So, what does this mean for our next-gen Deluxe riser that we teased at CES? We are still planning to make these available to our customers as an optional upgrade. While our existing riser delivers full RTX 50-series compatibility, future generations of GPUs will inevitably saturate more of the PCIE 5.0 x 16 bandwidth. The new Deluxe risers have shown improved signal integrity and performance efficacy which is only visible in a lab setting right now. These new risers will help future proof your systems for the next generation of GPUs which will get to experience these enhancements to maximize their performance.
Regarding GPU sizing & fitment, so far, weâve been able to test and confirm both Founders Edition GPUs, a few models from GIGABYTE (Aorus Master, Windforce, Aero), and a couple models from ZOTAC (AMP Extreme, Solid) fit perfectly in the Y70.
As we gain access to more GPUs, we will continue updating this post with a table of every model that has been announced, which ones weâve been able to confirm through firsthand testing, and which seem to fit fine based on builds weâve seen from the community. For our own testing, we will also work with our content team to provide a video installation of each model and pictures of a full system using that particular GPU in the Y70.
We appreciate your patience and support as we finish our testing and share the results. Stay tuned to our socials and to this post for additional details coming soon!
