Intel releases XeSS 1.3.1 with bug fixes and stability improvements

Intel has released an improved version of their XeSS 1.3 AI upscaling technology

Intel has released an updated version of their XeSS AI upscaling technology. This new version of XeSS is a minor update over XeSS 1.3, promising users bug fixes and increased stability. The newest version of Intel XeSS is now XeSS 1.3.1.

Sadly, Intel has not given much detail about this update to XeSS. Neither have they released any image comparisons to highlight any of its benefits over XeSS 1.3. If Intel’s mentions of bugs and stability issues are references to image quality, we can expect XeSS 1.3.1 to deliver better upscaling results than XeSS 1.3. That said, Intel hasn’t been very specific here, so we cannot confirm what this new update has achieved.

XeSS 1.3 deliver improved image quality and faster upscaling performance when it launched earlier this year. This made games run faster and look better than they did with earlier versions of XeSS. Intel claimed that their new version of XeSS ran 10% faster on average, though some games ran up to 28% faster when using XeSS.

Intel XeSS 1.3.1 is now available to download on GitHub. Currently, to our knowledge, no shipping game currently uses XeSS 1.3.1 as an upscaler.
