Leak – Nvidia RTX 60 series (GB20x) postponed to 2028
Don’t expect to see RTX 60 series GPUs in 2027
Another prominent leaker claims Nvidia doesn’t plan to release its next-generation RTX 60 series graphics cards until 2028. This statement refutes claims that Nvidia plans to release its RTX 6090 graphics card in 2027. Another respected leaker, Kepler_L2, has also stated that “RTX 60 is not coming next year”.
Kopite7kimi has stated that Nvidia plans to release its GR20x series GPUs in 2028. Nvidia’s GR20x series chips will power Nvidia’s “Gaming Rubin” graphics cards. Currently, the specifications and capabilities of these chips are unknown.
Given the high performance cost of Nvidia’s DLSS 5 technology, Nvidia’s RTX 60 series GPUs are expected to feature boosted AI performance. While Nvidia has major DLSS 5 optimisations in the works, boosting the AI performance of future products will make DLSS 5 and similar technologies more accessible. Path tracing is also another likely focus for Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs.
I hope Jensen can see everyone's passion and launch new products for gaming as soon as possible.
Unfortunately, GR20x is a product from 2028. That means they have postponed again. 🙃🙃🙃
I will try to minimize updates until there is definite news. (Lessons learned)— kopite7kimi (@kopite7kimi) September 21, 2026
Right now, many expect the global DRAM shortage to hit its peak in mid-2027. This is when new DRAM production should come online and start alleviating shortages. These factors would make 2027 a difficult time for any GPU launch, but could position 2028 as a safer time to release new products.
High DRAM and component costs have already wreaked havoc across the consumer PC market. Games are hit hardest, as their PCs require more RAM than standard desktops, and their GPUs also need adequate VRAM. If DRAM prices keep rising, this situation will only get worse as we enter 2027. Unless DRAM demand suddenly collapses, this situation will not change.
