LG’s new UltraGear OLED 27GX790A might be the ultimate gaming screen

LG launches UltraGear OLED QHD 480Hz gaming monitor with DisplayPort 2.1

LG has released what might be the ultimate gaming screen, an UltraGear OLED gaming monitor that delivers a 480Hz refresh rate, supports DisplayPort 2.1, delivers strong HDR support, and does so with 0.03 ms response times.

With these specifications and its crisp 1440p resolution, this new $999.99 UltraGear monitor is incredible. While some would prefer a 4K resolution or a larger screen size, this 27-inch OLED monitor is the ultimate gaming screen for many.

With FreeSync Premium Pro and Nvidia G-Sync compatibility, this monitor delivers strong Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support with all modern gaming PCs. Its VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 and ClearMR 13000 certifications confirm this screen’s strong HDR support and motion clarity characteristics. Additionally, this screen features adjustable RGB lighting on its rear, allowing users to customise their screens easily.

While some users would love a 4K version of this monitor, support for higher resolutions has several downsides. For starters, 4K 480Hz monitors do not currently exist. Furthermore, higher resolutions require more GPU resources to deliver high-framerate gameplay. Currently, 1440p is an excellent sweet-spot resolution for high refresh rate gameplay, as it strikes a strong balance between image quality and the ability of modern GPUs to run games at high framerates. Many esports titles can run at ultra high refresh rates at 1440p, giving competitive gamers many reasons to want this new 480Hz LG OLED monitor.
