MSI pushes OLED tech to new hights with their MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50

MSI’s pushing OLED tech to the limit with their 500Hz MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 Gaming Monitor

Ahead of CES, MSI has started to open up about their 2025 monitor range. For the ultra-high-end gaming market, we have the MSI MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50, the world’s first 500Hz QD-OLED gaming monitor, and it ships with full DisplayPort 2.1 support. This monitor also boasts a crips 1440p resolution and fast 0.03ms GTG response times.

This is not only the first 500Hz Quantum Dot OLED monitor but also the first monitor (that we know of) to be VESA ClearMR21000 certified. VESA launched its ClearMR 21000 specification last month, and MSI has already passed this challenging test. As such, users can expect excellent motion clarity from this high-refresh-rate monitor.

The MSI MPG 272QR QD-OLED X50 also boasts a VESA DipslayHDR True Black 500 certification, a 3-year OLED warranty, and a G-Sync Compatible certification. Furthermore, it features MSI’s OLED Care 2.0 technologies, which minimise burn-in risk.

Thanks to DisplayPort 2.1a support, this high refresh rate OLED monitor supports native 1440p gaming at 500Hz without issue. With UHBR20 support, this monitor supports DisplayPort 2.1’s full 80Gbps bandwidth. This enables ultra-high-resolution and refresh rate support without Display Steam Compression (DSC).

We expect to see this monitor in person at CES 2025. Sadly, pricing information is not available for this monitor at this time. We will report more on this new 500Hz monitor when we learn more.
