Amazon sells MSI’s RTX 5080 Shadow 3X OC GPU at Nvidia’s MSRP price in the UK
An Nvidia GPU at MSRP? Impossible? No, Amazon UK are currently selling the MSI RTX 5080 Shadow 3X for £979. Sadly, we do not expect this deal to last for long. Even so, this is a good sign that GPU pricing may be starting to normalise.
Since launch, MSRP RTX 5080 GPU models have been almost impossible to find. MSRP GPUs quickly disappear from retailers, leaving only premium models behind. Hopefully, these listings are a sign that we will see more MSRP-priced GPUs soon. That said, this could be wishful thinking.
While Nvidia’s RTX 5080 MSRP is reasonable, the fact that most RTX 5080 GPUs sell with huge pricing premiums has tainted people’s opinions on the graphics card. Many claim that MSRP pricing is “fictional” due to the lack of availability of these high-demand models. This had led to calls for tighter controls over GPU pricing, either from GPU manufacturers (AMD, Intel, and Nvidia) or regulators.
Hopefully, we will see more MSRP-priced GPUs come to market as supply and demand equalise.
Update – MSI’s MSRP RTX 5080 GPU models are now appear to be sold out. Sadly, pre-orders for this GPU are not available. Currently, it is unclear when we will see more MSRP RTX 5080 graphics cards become available to gamers.
