NBMiner 39.0 unlocks most of the mining potential of Nvidia’s LHR graphics cards
The latest update for NBMiner, as detailed on Github, can now access around 70% of the hash rate of Nvidia’s LHR series graphics cards. By default, Nvidia’s Ethereum mining limiter should limit their LHR series GPUs to 50% of their non-LHR mining performance. While this is far from unlocking the full mining potential of LHR series graphics cards, this change will be enough to make some miners interested in Nvidia’s LHR series GPUs.Â
Using NBMiner, users can tune their mining software by setting a target percentage for LHR series mining performance. 68% has been listed as a suggested performance target, though your mileage may vary depending on your graphics card.Â
In time, the developers of NBMiner may find a way to bypass Nvidia’s LHR mining performance locks entirely, making LHR series graphics cards just as good at cryptocurrency mining as their non-LHR counterparts. This would be an embarrassing result for Nvidia, as it would be the second time that cryptocurrency miners have bypassed their anti-mining performance lock.Â
