No, Gigabyte isn’t releasing an Aorus RTX 2070 Ti – It “is a typo”
Why are we talking about this promotion you may ask? The eagle-eyed amongst you will already see what we want to talk about, the mention of an RTX 2070 Ti on both the top and bottom of the promotion, a listing that has sent the rumour mill ablaze as the internet attempts to find out more about the next entry into Nvidia’s RTX series of graphics products.Â
Sadly, this supposed confirmation of the RTX 2070 Ti is nothing more than a mistype, a typo that managed to make its way onto Gigabyte’s website. This has been confirmed by GBT_Matthew, a moderator on the Gigabyte Gaming Subreddit, who said that he “can confirm this is a typo”. Below is GBT_Matthew’s full statement.Â
Can confirm this is a typo, sorry guys.
A couple things – First no such card exists (seriously!) second if you don’t believe me and think it does exist look at the typical turn round for high end models… AORUS cards usually come 1-2 weeks after the launch of the GIGABYTE cards (IE Gaming OC, Windforce.) This promotion ends Nov 15th. That means in less than a month you would see a new card, never before even rumored, then the high end variant, all in the next 30 days. Not to mention that 30 days includes skuing up and selling in what appears to be singapore, a market that again usually lags behind in on the shelf availability.
With the promotional period listed above, Nvidia would have less than a month to release their RTX 2070 Ti graphics card and Gigabyte would need to design manufacture and ship it before their promotion ends, all of which is not plausible.Â
While Nvidia could release an RTX 2070 Ti in the future, it is unlikely to release anytime soon, as Nvidia doesn’t need to compete with itself further in the high-end GPU market. Nvidia’s GTX 1070 Ti can be seen as a response to AMD’s RX Vega 56, making it likely that Nvidia will save their RTX 2070 Ti card until the release of Navi, assuming that they will need a new SKU between the RTX 2070 and RTX 2080.
