Nvidia app found to drop game performance in specific titles
Gamers report up to a 15% drop in game performance when using the Nvidia App
The new Nvidia App is causing performance issues for GeForce users. Sebastian Castellanos uncovered this issue, reporting 15+% performance drops when using the App.Â
Nvidia’s “Nvidia App” is the company’s replacement for their “GeForce Experience” software. It was released alongside Nvidia’s latest GeForce Game Ready drivers, offering users an updated feature set while dropping Nvidia’s controversial login requirement for GeForce Experience.
Specifically, Unreal Engine 5 games appear to be worst affected by these performance issues. However, Castellanos has reported that turning off “Game filters and photo mode” in the app resolves the problem. This means Nvidia App users may not need to uninstall the applications to address this issue.
Yikes, looks like having the NVIDIA app installed was destroying perf in some of my games (mainly UE5 ones) like Black Myth Wukong and The Talos Principle 2. Uninstalling the NVIDIA app fixed some horrendous frametime issues and gave me an extra 15%+ of performance! pic.twitter.com/KimvcahJ1P

Hopefully, Nvidia will quickly address this bug with a new GeForce driver update. This will likely arrive as a new GeForce Hotfix driver later this week.
For now, we recommend that PC gamers avoid the new Nvidia App until a fix is in place. After all, you deserve to get the full performance from your PC hardware. We expect a fixed driver to be released soon, so you likely won’t need to wait long before the app is fixed. If you already have the app installed, disabling filters may be enough to address these performance issues.
