Nvidia GeForce 615.xx driver leaks with DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction

Nvidia DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction confirmed with leaked driver release notes

Nvidia has accidentally unveiled the contents of its unreleased GeForce 615.xx driver, signalling that DLSS 4.5 will be released soon. This driver also lists “Game Ready” support for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy and Hell Let Loose: Vietnam. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy releases next week, which could mean this driver will arrive next week.

What is DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction?

DLSS Ray Reconstruction (RR) is a technique that allows Nvidia to combine AI denoising and upscaling to deliver more detailed ray tracing effects by intelligently saving and enhancing details. Using AI, Nvidia can save useful details that traditional denoising techniques would discard, delivering more detailed results. With this technique, Nvidia can deliver stronger ray tracing results with fewer ray casts, enabling improved visuals in supported games.

DLSS Ray Reconstruction is now getting the DLSS 4.5 treatment. What does that mean? DLSS RR is getting a new model with an expanded training dataset, more developer controls, and more parameters. In other words, DLSS RR is improving, which means better image quality.

DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is coming to all GeForce RTX GPUs. It will be supported on RTX 20, 30, 40, and 50 series GPUs. The new model will launch in August. The new denoiser is reportedly more efficient, with 35% more compute capability and processes 20% more parameters. Furthermore, the model builds on DLSS Super Resolution enhancements to deliver improved motion data and improved temporal stability.

Key improvements include clearer particle effects, reduced ghosting, fewer artefacts, and more detailed images.

Strong day-1 game support

At the time of writing, Nvidia has confirmed that DLSS Ray Reconstruction 4.5 will be available in 27 games at launch. These games will likely support this feature through DLSS Overrides on the Nvidia App.
