Nvidia upgrades its Nvidia App with useful new features
Nvidia unleashes major Nvidia App upgrades at Gamescom 2025
Nvidia has given its Nvidia App some major upgrades, giving GeForce users access to new features/options as well as some quality of life improvements.
For starters, Nvidia has given gamers more DLSS Override options, making it easier for RTX users to use the latest versions of Nvidia’s DLSS technologies. Additionally, Nvidia has added Smooth Motion support to RTX 40 series GPUs and lowered the VRAM requirements of its AI-powered G-Assist technology. Another useful change is streamlines Nvidia Surround setup tools, giving multi-monitor users some love.
Nvidia’s DLSS Override feature now has “Global Settings”
With Nvidia’s newest Nvidia App update, the company has added “Global Settings” to DLSS Override. Now, gamers can automatically apply DLSS Overrides to all supported games/apps. This allows gamers to add DLSS Multi-Frame generation to games lacking native support. It also allows Nvidia’s DLSS Super Resolution and DLSS Frame Generation models to be updated to their latest versions in many older games. This gives more games the image quality boost delivered by Nvidia’s Transformer-based DLSS models, giving gamers a higher quality gaming experience.
Smooth Motion comes to RTX 40 series GPUs
DLSS Smooth Motion is now available to RTX 40 series GPU users. Until now, this feature has been available only to RTX 50 series GPU users. This driver-level feature allows AI Frame Generation to be enabled in games that lack support for Frame Generation in-game. While the results will not be as high quality as a game with built-in DLSS Frame Generation support, it will provide a useful boost for many gamers.
Smooth Motion is especially useful to gamers who play older games with framerate caps. This can allow many older games to be played with smoother visuals using generated AI frames. A great option for gamers with high refresh rate displays.
It is great to see Nvidia improve its software and give gamers more options. It is also great to see features like Smooth Motion come to the company’s last-generation RTX 40 series graphics cards.
