Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB now costs more than an RTX 5070
The cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16GB now costs more than an RTX 5070 in the UK
If you’ve been trying to build a PC lately, you will know that memory pricing has reached insane levels. A 32GB DDR5 memory kit that cost £80 last year now costs around £350. That’s a price increase of over 4x. Similar price increases are impacting the GPU memory market, inflating GPU prices in the process. Now, high memory prices have made Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB more expensive than Nvidia’s RTX 5070 (12GB).
At both Overclockers UK and Scan Computers UK, there are currently no RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPUs available that are cheaper than their RTX 5070 GPUs. High memory prices appear to have increased the price of Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPUs at retailers. While Scan have some cheaper RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPUs available to pre-order, none of these pre-orders has a fulfilment date. At Overclockers UK, the cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16GB was £578.99. The cheapest RTX 5070 was £569.99. Both GPUs were ASUS Dual OC models.
As it stands, Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPUs are not worth purchasing. While they have 4GB more memory than an RTX 5070, 12GB is sufficient for modern gaming and the RTX 5070 delivers much more gaming performance. As it stands, there is no reason for gamers to buy an RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, at least in the UK.

Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 8GB costs over £200 less than the cheapest 16GB model
At Overclockers UK, the cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 8GB GPU is available for £359.99. That’s over £200 less than the cheapest RTX 5060 Ti 16GB model. While there are benefits to having more than 8GB of GPU memory, the cost of Nvidia GPUs with more memory has made such upgrades an incredibly expensive proposition. Remember, Nvidia’s RTX 5060 Ti 16GB launched with an MSRP of £399.
Sadly, the AI market has killed the prospects of getting PCs or components with ample amounts of memory for a reasonable price. This will be true for the foreseeable future. If you are a PC enthusiast, you probably don’t hate AI enough. The companies behind “big AI” are starving the consumer electronics market, and PC builders and gamers are amongst the hardest hit.
