Rainbow Six Siege will launch with 11 multiplayer maps – DLC Maps will be Free

Multiplayer shooters have always had a problem with map pack DLC, as when new maps are released their community is divided between the two camps, the haves and have nots. As the came goes further into it’s life cycle and players begin to move on to other games we typically see DLC maps become almost unused by most players as a smaller portion of the player base is using them, making the purchase almost useless in the long run for some titles.

Ubisoft say that they are planning to change that by making all the map pack DLC for their upcoming game Rainbow 6 Seige free of charge to all players, meaning that the games multiplayer community will remain united throughout the games life cycle and keep players coming back to the game in the long term.

Right now Ubisoft say that the game will launch on December 1st with 11 multiplayer maps, all of which will be playable at day or night and feature a high level of destructibility.

“At launch, Rainbow Six Siege will have 11 maps, playable both day or night, all using the full potential of our Real Blast destruction technology. In addition, all post-launch maps will be downloadable for free. We want players to stay with us for the long term and have ambitious post-launch plans that we will detail at a later stage,”

Below are the games minimum requirements for the closed alpha for the PC version of the title. Please note that these requirements are due to change before release and the launch specs should be lower than the alpha as the game is optimized before release.

  • OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, x64
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-2500K or AMD FX-8120 Eight-Core
  • CPU Speed: 3.3 GHz (Recommended), 2.6 GHz (Minimum)
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 or AMD Radeon HD 7970 / R9 280 X

Rainbow 6 Siege is due to be released on December 1st on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
