ROG RDNA 3 – ASUS appears to be working on an ROG Strix AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE

ASUS has started to make high-end AMD RDNA 3 GPUs with ROG branding

ASUS appears to be expanding its RDNA 3 GPU lineup. So far, the company has only released one Radeon RX 7000 series GPU in its ROG Strix range, and it isn’t a high-end model. Right now, the only ROG Strix RDNA 3 GPU available is the AMD Radeon RX 7600. Now it looks like new RDNA 3 ROG Strix GPUs are coming, starting with the ROG Strix RX 7900 GRE.

Now that AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 GRE graphics card is available globally, ASUS appears to be interested in creating high-end ROG RDNA 3 GPUs. No ROG-branded RX 7900 XT or RX 7900 XTX GPUs have been listed, though such models are possible.

AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 GRE is a strong performer, and recent driver updates have also made it a great overclocker. This could make the GRE a great addition to ASUS’ RDNA 3 GPU lineup, assuming they price it well.

While it is strange to see ASUS release new high-end RDNA 3 GPU models so late in the architecture’s life-cycle, it could be a sign that ASUS plans to throw more support behind AMD moving forward. It could also be a sign that RX 7900 GRE PCB elements could be reused for future RDNA 4 GPUs. This would make this new graphics card an effective use of ASUS’ design resources.
