The Oculus Rift is now Available for Pre-Order – Price Announced

 

It has finally happened, the Oculus Rift is Available for Pre-Order, announcing the price of VR headset and letting us know what will be bundles with the retail version of the device.  

The Oculus Rift will cost $599.99,€699.99 or £499.99, which we think is quite a reasonable price for the Rift considering the PC requirements, but certainly a lot more than we were expecting. This will not include shipping, but the shipping costs will vary depending on your region. 

 

     As a reminder, every Rift comes bundled with Lucky’s Tale by Playful, and we’re also including CCP’s EVE: Valkyrie for free with every pre-order!

If you don’t remember, or haven’t seen them yet, here are the Oculus Rift’s PC requirements, which will be the Minimum amount of computing power required for VR. Expect to need an even higher end PC in order to play any Oculus Rift games a higher in-game settings or to play future VR games. 

The Oculus Rift has a 1200×1080 display for each eye, which runs at 90Hz, making this a lot more demanding that your standard 1080p 60FPS PC gaming experience. 

 

  • – NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
  • – Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
  • – 8GB+ RAM
  • – Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • – 3x USB 3.0 ports and 1x USB 2.0 port
  • – Windows 7 SP1 or newer
 
Right now the price of the HTC Vive, the Oculus Rift’s main competitor on the VR gaming market, will be, but at this time it is expected to be higher due to it’s recent addition of a camera which allows Reality to be viewed when using the headset.
