VR will become something everyone wants before it becomes something everyone can afford
It looks like the Rift may be very expensive
Â
Anyone that is acquainted with VR will already know how expensive of a proposition it is, firstly there is the headset and secondly there is the computational hardware that is required to run it.Â
So far the only pricing information that we have received has been that is will cost $350 or more, which when combined with the cost of a PC which can run it adds up to some serious money. Below are the PC requirements for the Oculus Rift.Â
Â
- – NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
- – Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
- – 8GB+ RAM
- – Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
- – 2x USB 3.0 ports
- – Windows 7 SP1 or newer
Â
Reminder of something I have talked about before: VR will become something everyone wants before it becomes something everyone can afford.

Oculus promised t ship more developer kits every week until the Oculus Rift’s launch, though right now we do not know exactly when the Oculus Rift will launch, or at what price.Â
Right all we know is that the Oculus will launch in Q1 2016 and will cost more than $350.Â
