You can play Call of Duty Black Ops 3’s Multiplayer for Free this weekend on Steam. This is also the last weekend where you can buy the Black Ops 3 Multiplayer only pack on Steam.

Recently a multiplayer only version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has just been released on Steam for £11.59/$14.99. This pack will be available on the PC only and will be available until February 29th.

This new version of Call of Duty will include the Multiplayer of the game only, but will offer a limited version of it where you cannot prestige, access the games Zombies mode, the Single Player campaign or unranked server and will not allow you to use the games mod tools or modded content.

Below is a list of the locked content for the game.

The following content is not available: Zombies game mode, Campaign game mode, ability to play in custom games, ability to Prestige, access to Mod Tools (once released), access to modded content (once released), access to unranked server browser (once released), the ability to fresh start your profile, Dead Ops Arcade II, and Nightmares mode. To gain access to this content, you can upgrade to the full game.

This experimental release from Activation,is priced to be very competitive with popular multiplayer only PC shooters like Counter Strike and could help Black Ops 3 gain a larger player base on PC, where there is a great deal of extra competition in the online shooter market when compared to consoles.

This free weekend is no doubt intended to get more people interested in the Multiplayer only version of the game, hoping to get some last minute sales for the multiplayer only version of the game.

If this move proved successful for Activision we may consider releasing this version of the game for a longer period of time or making this an option when future Call of Duty games are released on PC.
