AMD Announce Tether Free Sulon Q VR/AR headset.

AMD have announce their new Sulon Q VR/AR headset, the world's only Tether-free VR solution with simple wear and play functionality.

This new headset will be powered internally by what AMD calls a "Console-Quality" processing chip, the AMD FX-8800P, a 35W unit with AMD R7 Graphics and 4 CPU cores. This SOC is fully HSA ready and is able to display visuals on a 2560x1440 OLED display.

This unit in theory combines the idea behind the Oculus Rift and the Microsoft Hololens, being capable of displaying both virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR)

The Sulon Q headset is truly an amazing piece of kit. We are working incredibly hard to make exploring virtual worlds as simple and intuitive as exploring the real one, and the Sulon Q headset is a big step towards that.

As a powerful and lightweight all-in-one solution that combines VR and AR capabilities with real-time spatial mapping, the Sulon Q headset offers an experience that’s unlike anything else. As we put the finishing touches on it and ready for launch in late spring, we hope everyone enjoys today’s sneak peek and is equally excited about the headset as we are.

With Spacial Computing and Windows 10 the AMD Sulon Q will be capable of displaying holographic computing interfaces, giving you an immersive office experience that was previously only available in science fiction.

Right now very little is still known about AMD's Tether Free VR/AR Headset, but more information will be coming at AMD's "Capsaicin" event later today.
