Tech site WCCFTech has posted an exclusive picture under the hood of AMD's upcoming Fiji (or Fury) GPU. That's right, Fiji's heart has been caught on camera.

Covered in thermal paste, the image shows the chip itself (which is quite large), flanked by four HBM stacks. About a week ago a reconstruction of the die appeared, and it seems to be spot on. The reconstruction, posted by VideoCardz, showed the same, sizeable chip, and featured four HBM stacks. Just like in the picture.

There were rumours that Fury would use a heatspreader like the IHS on Intel CPUs, but that's apparently not the case. Please note, this is not bad news at all, as the GPU cooler will now be placed directly on top of the chip, instead of on an integrated heat spreader. This should result in better cooling performance (just like delidding your CPU will lower temperatures).

Are you excited for AMD's upcoming flagship GPU? Let us know.

I wasn't expecting it to look like that. That memory is really close to the core. AMD's 390X is looking really interesting.Quote

Agreed, even if your I'm a rush, it only take a minute to give it a little clean.... Either way I wonder what the temps for the chips will be like.Quote
