AMD has released the Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 17.12.1 driver

Introducing Radeon overlay

One of the most noteworthy upgrades to Radeon Software Adrenalin is the addition of AMD's Radeon Overlay, which allows users to monitor the performance of their system, activate or deactivate features like Enhanced Sync, framerate target control and FreeSync on the fly as well as update Radeon Chill and colour options/profiles in-game.

Most gamers will use this feature as a replacement for MSI afterburner/Rivatuner's overlay capabilities, allowing users to see a FPS logo when playing their games or even log a game's performance.

This overlay can also be used to control Radeon ReLive, making AMD's recording solution a lot easier to use with support for DirectX 9, 10, 11, 12 and Vulkan, allowing most modern games to support this feature.

Nice. I did a fresh install of my OS last week after a Windows Update killed my install. Sure I could've fixed it but I was due a refresh anyway.

Either way I've been waiting for Adrenalin before uninstalling the default drivers Windows installs and installing proper ones. I was expecting a longer wait.

Looks like I'm going to have a fun night! We'll see if this can replace HWiNFO64 and RivaTuner.Quote

Thanks man, just wish I had more time to spend on the initial write-up. AMD very last minute.com sending us over the details. It seems AMD wanted to prevent any leaks from happening.Quote

To be honest I'm surprised you were able to get so much written already.

Another site quickly tested three games and found performance hadn't increased very much from the previous driver, but it's possible Vega will be the one to benefit mostly.Quote

I wouldn't be surprised if this driver release has anything to do with Sapphires Nitro+ Vega card coming out shortlyQuote
