New reports have stated that AMD has been able to create new Polaris revisions that are up to 50% more efficient, reducing the TDPs of future Polaris products with a small increase clock speeds. 
 
These gains in efficiency have been attributed to improvements in the 14nm metal masking layers used for AMD Polaris GPUs combined with an enhanced binning process, allowing AMD to decrease the TDP of Polaris 10 from 150W to 95W and the TDP of Polaris 11 from 75W to less than 50W. 
 
It has also been reported that with these improvements AMD has also been able to increase the compute performance of Polaris 11 to 2.5TFLOPs with increased clock speeds, which is a huge improvement over Polaris 11's original compute throughput of 2.15TFLOPs. 
 
These new revisions are already available to the embedded market, with AMD being likely to bring these revised GPUs to the mobile market to compete with Nvidia's mobile Pascal lineup. It has also been reported that AMD may be planning to refresh their Polaris lineup with an RX 4X5 series of GPUs.

Above is an old slide that was previously leaked from AMD, showing that the company did plan to release RX 4X5 series GPUs for second revision GPU models, which will likely come with enhanced clock speeds and improved GPU efficiency.  At this time AMD has not confirmed that a Polaris refresh is in the works, though it would certainly make AMD highly competitive in the mobile market if these reports are correct.

Wonder what this could do for the RX 480. Got a few of the reference versions for trifire but dont want take any risks applying a heavy OC.. The RX480 has just been a tad lackluster all in all. If it could get a nice jump in efficiency that would be awesome.Quote

At the moment, I am just happy that this is coming to notebooks. If anything I want to at least be able to get an AMD GPU for my notebook this time around. Obviously will upgrade as soon as next gen hits though Quote

Soooo they ship them already undervolted? lol

Many people have reported 30+W decrease in power consumption by undervolting their RX 480 from 1.15V to 1.05VQuote
