GPU pricing is getting better, much better

GPUs selling below their MSRP? What!

Graphics card prices are falling, a clear signal that the GPU supply crisis is coming to and end, and that PC gamers may soon be able to buy graphics cards at reasonable prices.

This week, we detailed why GPU prices are falling, and why we expect further price decreased over the coming weeks. Today, we can report that AMD's RX 6500 XT can now be purchase at or below its UK MSRP of £179.99. If that is not a sign that GPU prices are falling, I don't know what is.

Today, Overclockers UK are shipping PowerColor's RX 6500 XT for £169.99, and Sapphire's RX 6500 XT Pulse Gaming for £174.99. While discounts of £10 and £5 are not huge, they represent a turning point for the GPU market. It wasn't long ago that almost all RX 6500 XT graphics cards were available for over £200 in the UK. Simply put, today's PC builders a sick of feeling like they have been overcharged when buying new graphics cards.

In recent days, we have seen many Radeon graphics cards become available at, or close to, their official MSRP prices. On the Nvidia side, we have started to see some graphics cards reach pricing levels that are the lowest that we have ever seen at retailers. We expect this pricing trend to continue over the coming weeks, as value returns to the GPU market.

As we have said elsewhere, our recommendation is that today's GPU buyers may be best off waiting a week or two before making any purchases. GPU prices have not bottomed out, and we expect to see some dramatic price decreases soon from many manufacturers.
