AMD's Vega architecture is on track for launch in Q2

At their Q1 2017 earnings call, AMD has confirmed that their Vega GPU architecture is on track for a Q2 launch. This means that AMD's new Vega architecture has not been delayed and that the new architecture will have been launched by late June.

In their earnings call, AMD also highlighted Vega's key architectural enhancements, from their new memory sub-systems, next-generation geometry pipeline and new compute engine designs. At this time the performance impact of these features is unknown, though they will certainly make Vega competitive in the server/compute market.

  • AMD’s “Vega” GPU architecture is on track to launch in Q2, and has been designed from scratch to address the most data- and visually-intensive next-generation workloads with key architecture advancements including: a differentiated memory subsystem, next-generation geometry pipeline, new compute engine, and a new pixel engine.

AMD fans can rest assured that Vega has not been delayed, though at this time it is still unknown how well Vega will compete with Nvidia's flagship Pascal-series GPUs.

Seriously? You are complaining about rumors? We get rumors about every release for CPUs and GPUs and always have...

Besides that, yes we have gotten facts so far.Quote

Of which we've gotten.... Should really read the article. The information in there has been confirmed months ago, with the on track part just another reassuring thing to people looking to buy Vega.Quote

It does feel as though AMD have miss timed their 'leaks' and teases with Vega imho. I. Think they revealed they had working prototypes too soon, then it's been months with no hard numbers. It seems as though peak anticipation has already been reached and now people are getting antsy. In this case the hype train is losing steam and about to start climbing a hillQuote
