AMD to release the R9 Fury Nano GPU in August

AMD announced their R9 Fury Nano GPU back in mid-June, which in my opinion was one of the most interesting GPUs AMD had shown at their E3 live conference. This GPU is now confirmed to be releasing this in August by AMD's CEO Lisa Su, saying this.

“Fury just launched, actually this week, and we will be launching Nano in the August timeframe.”

The Fury Nano will be the most efficient GPU amd has ever produced to date, with ultra power efficient HBM memory and boasting over 2x the performance per watt of AMD's Hawaii GPU.

As you can see, this GPU is not particularly long, measuring at the same length as a regular PCIe connection. This is due to AMD's use of HBM memory, allowing memory to take up 95% less space than the equivalent amount of GDDR5. This also allows AMD to have more freedon when it comes to the design of the power circuitry on this small form factor.

This GPU is smaller than AMD's new Flagship the Fury X GPU, making this GPU one of the most performance dense GPUs ever constructed.

AMD to release the R9 Fury Nano GPU in August

It is expected that the Radeon R9 Nano will be further down the performance leaderboards than the R9 Fury, given the GPU's size and cooling solution. It does feature a very high build quality, with it's soft touch surface and black nickel shroud.

Right now we do not know exactly what lies on the PCB of this card, though it is likely that it could be an underclocked Fury/Fiji GPU core, though right now it is almost impossible to know.

AMD's Fury nano will likely be one of the most highly anticipated GPU launches this year, at least from a technological standpoint as this GPU boasts a level of efficiency that even Nvidia's ultra efficient Maxwell architecture cannot match.

I'm not confident that the cooling solution on this will be enough....Quote
