Anno 2205 Benchmarked - Massive Nvidia Maxwell Optimization

The guys over at computerbase.de have been testing the newly released Anno 2205 with a range of both AMD and Nvidia's current and last generation of GPUs, showing that Nvidia's Maxwell GPU architecture has some clear advantages under certain game settings.

In their testing Computerbase.de found that at 1080p with the games Ultra High presets, 2x MSAA and Very high shader quality that the game highly favoured Nvidia, but specifically Nvidia's modern Maxwell architecture, giving it a clear advantage over both AMD's GCN architecture and Nvidia's older Keplar based GPUs.

Under the above settings Nvidia's GTX 970 was able to almost match AMD's R9 Fury X and Nvidia's GTX 960 was able to beat Nvidia's older GTX 780Ti, both of which are not very consistent with most other modern gaming titles or benchmarks, showing that the game has clearly been designed with Maxwell in mind.

Cranking the setting higher to use Ultra quality shaders Nvidia's Maxwell architecture is hit the hardest, though it still maintains a clear lead over AMD's GCN and Nvidia's Keplar based GPUs. Under these higher settings the R9 Fury X moves to be between the GTX 980 and GTX 980Ti, making the results a lot more consistent with other games, though Nvidia Maxwell is still the clear winner in this game.

Below are the games minimum and recommended requirements for Anno 2205, which are not overly demanding and do not show a clear disparity between AMD and Nvidia.

Minimum system requirements for Anno 2205:
• Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (64-bit)
• Processor: Intel Core i5 750 @ 2.6 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 @ 3.2 GHz
• RAM: 4 GB or more
• Video card: GeForce GTX 460 or AMD Radeon HD 5870 (1024 MB RAM with Shader Model 5.0)
• DirectX: DirectX Redistributable June 2010
• Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers

Recommended system for Anno 2205:
• Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 (64-bit)
• Processor: Intel Core i5 2400S @ 2.5 GHz or AMD FX-4100 @ 3.6 GHz
• RAM: 8 GB or more
• Video card: GeForce GTX 680, Radeon HD 7970 or better (2048 MB RAM or more, with Shader Model 5.0)
• DirectX: DirectX Redistributable June 2010
• Sound: DirectX Compatible Sound Card with latest drivers

Special thanks to Computerbase.de for conducting these tests, especially with older generation Keplar GPUs.

I could bet anything that Nvidia uses their own drivers to slowly but surely sabotage their own GPU's to incentives the purchase of their new ones.Quote

One more gimping evidence NVIDIA!!!!! You will never recover your trust 20 years has fallen into mud..that game clearly favors Maxwell. Thats way to force to upgrade. What you could expect from them it is Ngreedia the way customer is meant to be played.....Kepler was downgraded for long time in drivers and tesselation has been increated in games to favors Maxwell and cripple older cards, thats how business work..and after complains NVIDIA has released W3 kepler fix driver with 10-11 more avg fps think about that gamers.....same happend on Fermi i am still forced to use old icafe 344.47 driver to gain 5-7 more fps in all games compared to latest crap drivers...one of 2 rare drivers which have true boost on my card......As soon Pascal comes to market, same with happend with Maxwell it will be gimped in games and drivers....way to be played...,,,you can see gameplays google Dzoni90 Dailymotion

Then... buy an AMD card and stop complaining?

But AMD cards as old and low-end as your GTS450 don't get updates anymore either Quote
