Forget 120Hz, this screen doubles that!

AGON's latest Mini-LED HDR monitor is a high refresh rate gaming beast

AOC has just launched their new AGON PRO AG274QZM, a super fast new IPS gaming display that features a Mini LED backlight, 1 1440p resolution, a 240Hz maximum refresh rate, G-Sync compatibility, and DisplayHDR 1000 certified HDR capabilities. If you know anything about gaming monitors, you will know that these specs make the AGON PRO AG274QZM a monstrously powerful gaming monitor.

With a 1440p 240Hz display panel, AOC's AGON PRO AG274QZM offers gamers a strong balance between resolution and refresh date. Yes, faster 360Hz 1080p screens are available, but they have a pixel count that is almost half that of a 1440p screen, and 240Hz is more than enough for most competitive gamers. The AGON PRO AG274QZM offers a solid balance between fast motion, sharp imagery, and minimal response times, but at a high cost.

We have already mentioned this screen's DisplayHDR 1000 certification, but that alone does not tell the full story. This screen has a peak brightness of 1200 nits and has 576 local dimming zones. That's a lot of dimmable zones for a 27-inch screen size, and those zone ensure that users get deep blacks and bright highlights when gaming, especially for HDR content.

With a price tag of £999, AOC's AGON PRO AG274QZM is an expensive screen. The monitor is due to be available in June 2022, and we are likely to see this screen at events like Computex 2022. While this screen is on the very expensive side of the monitor spectrum, it is worth remembering that not many screen promise 1440p at 240Hz with a solid HDR implementation.

The AG274QZM is designed for gamers who also work from home or use their PCs for content creation. The monitor offers users USB-C connectivity, with support for 65W power delivery to charge and power connected laptops (or other devices). With 4x USB 3.2 ports, the monitor can act as a docking station to connect additional peripherals such as keyboard, mouse etc. With the screen's built-in KVM switch, users can also swap between two sources (e.g. a gaming pc and a work or streaming pc) while using the same keyboard and mouse set.

To customise the monitor to meet your needs, the AG274QZM features Light FX RGB lights on it's back, which can be synchronised with other AGON by AOC gear. A logo projector also projects the AGON logo onto the desk for extra flair. The screen also includes puck-shaped QuickSwitch controller, which makes adjusting the monitor's OSD settings a breeze. This monitor's OSD can be controlled via the joystick, or AOC's G-Menu software.

All things considered this isn't actually all that expensive for what it offers compared to others on the market with similar specs.Quote
