ASUS officially unveils DirectCU3 cooler

A couple of days ago, ASUS teased a new GPU cooling solution with a rendered picture. Today, the new cooler has been officially revealed, with another render. The successor to DirectCU2, conveniently named DirectCU3, features three fans, a traditional black and red color scheme and will be used on the GTX 980 Ti Strix for the first time. The new cooler will be used for the Strix series only, at least for now.

ASUS graphics cards are produced via exclusive Auto-Extreme technology, an industry-first 100% automated process, and feature aerospace-grade Super Alloy Power II components for unsurpassed quality and reliability. The NDA on the GTX 980 Ti was lifted yesterday, and the card will come in at £549. You can watch TTL's review of the new GPU below.

A backplate imo, is a necessity. It would just tidy up the card and it's not like it would cost Asus a lot to include it, really.Quote
