ASUS says that their cable is 'foldable', which could make it more reliable than competing solutions.

ASUS' ROG Strix PCI-E Riser cables sound amazing
If you have ever used a PCIe riser cable, you will know how fiddly and fragile they are. Yes, vertically mounted graphics cards look great, but we have a mountain of broken riser cables to prove how tricksy these fancy graphics card mounts can be.
ASUS has revealed its ROG Strix PCI-E Riser cable, complete with full ROG branding, a patented SafeSlot PCI-E design and the promise of a "foldable" design.
That's right, ASUS promises that their ROG Strix PCI-E Riser cable is "foldable"; their product page says so three times! Most of the time, we recommend that users of PCI-E Riser cables DO NOT fold their cables, and to avoid tight bends whenever possible. This advice is to help prevent users breaking PCIe Riser cables, as nobody wants their investment to be wasted.
When looking at this product, we think two things, either this is an amazing product, or ASUS really shouldn't have used the word "foldable" on their product page. That's a question which will be answered when this product gets into the hands of users.
ASUS' product page also mentions that their ROG Strix Riser cable is compatible with the PCIe 3.0 x16 standard, which means that this product may not be compatible with PCIe 4.0 devices. This has proven to be a problem for many early PCIe Riser cables, especially now that AMD has PCIe 4.0 motherboards and graphics cards on the market.

After having watched many of OC3D videos I remember Tom always saying to shape an S-curve if you have to not break it.
